  • 1½ tablespoons lemon zest
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • For the cream cheese frosting: 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 ¼ cups powdered sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to about 110°F and combine with instant yeast; let it sit until frothy.
  2. Add the egg, sugar, lemon zest, melted butter, salt, and flour gradually until combined.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl to rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Mix together the filling ingredients and spread over rolled-out dough.
  6. Roll tightly into a log and cut into pieces.
  7. Allow rolls to rise again before baking at 350°F for approximately 28 minutes.
  8. Beat frosting ingredients together until creamy; frost cooled rolls.
