  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ⅔ cup pumpkin puree (blotted)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (for icing)
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cloves, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cream together softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in another bowl until fluffy.
  4. Add egg, maple syrup, and blotted pumpkin puree to the creamed mixture; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
  7. Scoop dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them two inches apart.
  8. Bake for about 13-15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool on a rack before icing.
  10. For icing, whisk powdered sugar with maple syrup, cloves, and cinnamon; drizzle over cooled cookies and sprinkle remaining pecans on top.
