  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round baking pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla; beat until smooth. Gradually stir in boiling water.
  4. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool cakes for 10 minutes in pans before transferring to a cooling rack.
  6. For the filling, cook chopped strawberries with sugar until softened; stir in lemon juice and cornstarch mixture until thickened.
  7. For the ganache, pour hot cream over chopped chocolate; let sit before stirring until smooth.
  8. Assemble by layering one cake with strawberry filling, topping with the second layer and pouring ganache over the top.
