Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and grease an 8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and optional cinnamon.
  3. Stir in the milk until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  4. Gently fold in sliced peaches until evenly distributed.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  6. In a saucepan, mix water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter, and nutmeg; bring to a boil until sugars dissolve.
  7. Carefully pour the hot syrup over the batter in the baking dish.
